There is no single “best” forex broker for every trader. The first step is to identify the legal entity that would service your account, verify that entity on the relevant regulator’s official register, and then compare fees, products, platforms and client protections. This guide is a comparison framework, not a current broker ranking or recommendation.

How brokers should be evaluated

A defensible comparison needs dated, comparable evidence rather than a single headline score. FXBrokerAlert’s evidence framework sets out six dimensions, but no FXBrokerAlert Evidence Ratings have been issued. External Reference Scores summarize third-party ratings only.

DimensionWeightEvidence to collect
Regulation30%Exact entity, current regulator record, website match and relevant product permissions.
Transparency20%Accessible, dated legal documents and clearly identified contracting entity.
Operating history15%Dated evidence for the legal entity, not the age of a brand or domain.
Trading infrastructure15%Current platform and product details, supported by applicable documents.
Fees & conditions10%Representative spread, commission, financing, account and regional terms.
User risk signals10%Traceable evidence with context; not copied star counts or unsourced allegations.

Check regulation and the legal entity first

A broker brand may use different companies across countries. Find the exact entity in the agreement you would accept. Search that entity on the regulator’s official register, confirm its current status and relevant permissions, and compare the official website and contact details. A licence belonging to an affiliate is not proof that it applies to your account.

Use the regulator’s own register and warning pages. Our licence-checking guide explains the process. The regulator guides point to official sources.

Compare the complete cost, not a headline spread

Review typical spreads, commissions on both sides, overnight financing, currency conversion, deposit or withdrawal charges, inactivity terms and any platform cost. Compare the same instrument, position size, holding period and account currency. A “from” price is not a typical-cost estimate.

Verify platforms, instruments and access

Check which software is available for the specific entity and account type, which products may be traded, whether the service is available where you live, and what restrictions apply. A website feature list is a provider statement until current terms or another reliable source supports it.

Funding, withdrawals and risk warnings

Read deposit and withdrawal rules, verification requirements, limits, methods and expected processing times in dated documents. Do not infer withdrawal speed from an advertisement. Read the provider’s current retail-loss warning, understand how leverage and margin affect losses, and check which protections apply to your own legal entity and client classification.

What current FXBrokerAlert files can and cannot establish

Source-linked broker research filesShow public editorial and user-review ratings with source links and checked dates where enough sources are available.Reference Scores do not establish safety, client routing, or verified FXBrokerAlert findings; many facts remain Not Verified.
Additional broker research pagesSeparate exact-name source findings, claims and information gaps.A name or warning for one domain does not automatically identify a namesake.

No provider in this guide is ranked or recommended as the best for a particular reader. No reliable comparative dataset currently establishes who may suit you. Start with the broker directory, inspect each source record and keep unknown facts unknown.

A practical comparison checklist

  1. Write down your country of residence and the legal entity named in the proposed client agreement.
  2. Match the entity, website, status and permissions on the regulator’s official record.
  3. Compare dated fee schedules, account conditions and withdrawal terms for the same scenario.
  4. Confirm platform and product availability for that entity and account type.
  5. Treat external Reference Scores, provider claims, and regulator-verified evidence as separate information types.
  6. Do not open or fund an account until important terms and risks are clear to you.
